#6830 Space Patroller

LEGO released #6830 Space Patroller in 1988, and a friend gave it to me for my birthday that same year. We had been really close since we started first grade together three years earlier, but unfortunately around this time her family moved to the other side of town and we soon lost contact. But I digress, this blog is about LEGO…

Instruction for building the minifigure and the two small droids

We start off by building the yellow Futuron minifigure and the two small droids that will attach to the back of the spacecraft.

The minifigure and the two small droids

The base is built with wings attached to hinges on the sides so that they can fold back. I have cleaned all my old pieces so I guess the next step if I want them looking any better would be peroxide treatment.

Instructions for steps 9 and 10, building the spaceship canopy and attaching the droids to the back.

The canopy and front is built as a sub-assembly and attached on a hinge behind the pilot's seat, along with the two droids on their backs. The position of the droids seems to indicate they double up as engines, no doubt in an effort to save on precious resources…

And that’s it, a 40-parts swooshable spaceship carrying a versatile crew for any surface mission!
